Claws Out Comedy is combining forces with Trinity Pride Fest and Amphibian Stage to bring you an unforgettable evening highlighting some of DFW’s most talented stand up comedians and drag performers. Claws Out has been consistently voted by critics and readers alike as “Best Comedy Night” – come find out why.

At its core, Claws Out Comedy is a celebration of authenticity and individuality as its Mental Health advoCATS masterfully use humor to tackle dark subject matter and normalize conversations surrounding mental health. Join us for an exciting storytelling event directed by Julia Estelle Cotton, with stories by Hamid Adibi, Soccer Referee; Ambreen Butt, Visual Artist; Hady Mawajdeh, Producer; Laleh Rezaie, Barber; Morvarid Rezaie, Physician. The show will conclude with a talkback session with additional discussion.

 

Starting at 1:30 PM before the performance, join us in the Amphibian Stage lobby for a catered reception provided by Break Bread, Break Borders.

Workshop Leader

Julia Estelle Cotton is a Dallas based performer, producer and writer. After participating in Dallas’ storytelling production, Oral Fixation, as a performer and later Assistant Director, Julia began the storytelling program at Dallas Comedy House.  There, she launched Gettin’ It, a show featuring hilarious true stories of women getting what they need by going for what they want.  She continues to teach storytelling workshops for people of all ages across Texas.   She co-founded the Dallas-based, all black sketch troupe, FCC Presents, dedicated to creating socially relevant live comedy experiences. You may have seen Julia on WFAA where she served as host and producer of digital content, including “on-the-street” interviews, viewer watch parties and various audience engagement pieces. Julia has a passion for helping people find their voice, tell their story, and understand that they belong everywhere they are.
